21 Dec

How cool is that? The Dolphin Discovery Centre made it into the news. Check it out here.

Bye bye Jan & Kim

27 Nov

Leaving Bunbury also meant saying bye to Jan & Kim of Swanto House, my home from home for the past six weeks. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome from the very first minute and for giving me a glimpse of Australian culture and lifestyle. I’ll miss you!

Bye, bye Britta

10 Nov

Unfortunately, Britta is leaving Bunbury tomorrow. We spent a last evening together and enjoyed the adult company – being surrounded by teenagers takes its toll :-)…
Bye, bye Britta, have a save trip back!

Tanya’s Tank

9 Nov

Just back from dinner at Tanya’s house. She has made me feel welcome from day one and it’s great to spend time with her and her adorable family.
I just love getting a lift home in her massive car…( or should I say ‘tank’?)
Tanya is behind the wheel, my friend Britta’s about to get in.

Hard at work 2

7 Nov

That’s our headquarters, lovingly referred to as ‘the can’…. Hannah, Brian and me waiting for dolphins or for anything to happen, anything at all. Luckily we had three dolphins in today, Big Nick, Cracker and Levie.

Netball Newbie

6 Nov

Last night Tanya invited me to go to netball practice. I had never even heard of netball before and had to check the rules and regulations beforehand. It’s kind of like basketball but you are only allowed to take one step once you have posession of the ball. More immersion into Australian culture for me…:-)
Tanya’s team is called the Angry Birds and she’s the one with the red GA shirt – unfortunately they lost despite my cheering and support.

My neighbourhood

5 Nov

Some of you asked for more pictures of my immediate neighbourhood. Here you go, you see the entrance to my house and the view up and down the street.

Wave watching

The weather forecast for today predicted “blasting south-easterly winds”, they got that one right for sure!
Fancy a swim anyone?
